Why fit a catch can to your diesel?
Every modern common-rail diesel breathes crankcase oil mist back through the intake via the PCV system. Mixed with EGR soot, that oil bakes onto your inlet manifold, intercooler and valves — slowly choking airflow, power and fuel economy. A catch can intercepts the oil mist before it reaches the intake, keeping the system clean and protecting performance for the long haul.

ProVent® vs a basic separator — which do I need?
Direction Plus ProVent® uses a coalescing filter for fine oil separation at high flow — the pick for towing and tuned engines. Simpler separators suit lighter-duty use. Does fitting a catch can void my warranty?
A correctly installed catch can sits in the crankcase breather circuit and doesn’t modify the engine itself, so it’s widely fitted to vehicles under warranty. If in doubt, check your manufacturer’s terms — our team can advise on a clean, reversible install.
Catch can or oil separator — what’s the difference?
A basic separator knocks out larger oil droplets; a coalescing catch can like ProVent® captures the fine oil mist far more effectively — which matters most on hard-working and tuned diesels.
Will I still need to clean my intake?
A catch can dramatically slows oil and soot build-up, but it’s preventative. If your intake is already coated, an intake clean at fit-up gives you the best result going forward.
