American Trucks Diesel

Dodge Ram Performance Tuning & Diesel Servicing

The Dodge Ram is one of the most capable diesel platforms on Australian roads, and getting the best from it takes a workshop that genuinely understands the powertrain. The Ram 2500 and 3500 run the legendary 6.7L Cummins inline-six turbo-diesel, while the Ram 1500 is fitted with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. Every Ram we work on is a USA-built truck, and we tune and service them accordingly, with the right tooling and the right knowledge of how these engines behave.

At Willy’s Workshop we specialise in diesel performance and mechanical work across both Ram engine families. Our tuning is fully custom and developed in-house on our own dyno, calibrated on the factory ECU. For 2022 and newer Rams there is no ECU swap involved; we tune the truck’s existing controller, so the calibration suits your exact engine, driveline and intended use, whether that is daily driving, heavy towing or long-distance touring.

We operate from two Queensland locations, Oxley in Brisbane and Warana on the Sunshine Coast, giving Ram owners across the south-east access to premium diesel performance and a complete servicing and repair facility under one roof.

Engines We Tune

Dodge Ram diesel engines we tune

6.7L Cummins inline-6 turbo-diesel (Ram 2500/3500, High Output)
276 kW / 1085 Nm
Legendary heavy-duty inline-six built for towing; watch DPF restriction, EGR cooler/valve faults, SCR/AdBlue (DEF) dosing issues and carbon build-up.
3.0L EcoDiesel V6 (Ram 1500)
184 kW / 600 Nm
Refined twin-cam V6 turbo-diesel; known for EGR cooler failures, oil cooler wear under heavy towing and timing chain concerns.

Your Ram's tune potential

Pick your engine to see typical gains from a Willys Workshop tune.

Indicative gains on a stock vehicle, measured on a dyno at the engine (crank) — wheel power reads lower (typically 15–20% on a 4WD). Actual results vary with vehicle condition, fuel quality and modifications.

Tuning & Servicing

Why choose Willy’s for your Dodge Ram

Performance Tuning

Custom, dyno-verified tuning developed in-house on the factory ECU, tailored to how you actually use your Ram.

  • Custom calibration on the factory ECU, with no ECU swap required on 2022-onwards Rams, so the tune matches your specific truck.
  • Every Ram tune is developed and validated on our in-house dyno, so power and torque gains are measured and verified rather than estimated.
  • Calibrations tuned for real-world towing and touring on the 6.7L Cummins and 3.0L EcoDiesel, with smoother throttle response and improved drivability.
  • Tuning approached alongside the truck’s emissions and cooling hardware, so the calibration suits the platform rather than working against it.

Servicing & Repair

A full diesel mechanical workshop for the Ram 2500, 3500 and 1500, with the experience these USA trucks demand.

  • Logbook-style and major servicing for the 6.7L Cummins and 3.0L EcoDiesel, including oil, filters and fluid changes specified for these engines.
  • Diagnosis and repair of common Ram diesel faults, including EGR cooler and valve issues, DPF restriction and SCR/AdBlue (DEF) system faults.
  • Inspection of known wear points such as EcoDiesel oil cooler and timing chain concerns, plus carbon build-up management on the 6.7L Cummins.
  • Cooling, fuel and turbo system servicing, with parts sourced to suit USA-spec Rams running in Australian conditions.

FAQ

Dodge Ram diesel FAQs

How much does it cost to tune a Dodge Ram, and is it worth it?
Tuning cost depends on the engine, the hardware fitted and the calibration work involved, so we provide a quote once we have your truck’s details. A custom, dyno-verified tune is worth it for owners who tow, tour or want sharper drivability, because the calibration is matched to your exact Ram rather than a generic file. Contact us for a quote on your 2500, 3500 or 1500.
Will tuning my Ram affect the factory warranty?
Any modification to a vehicle can affect a manufacturer or dealer warranty, and that includes engine tuning. We tune on the factory ECU and keep your original calibration so it can be reverted if needed, but we always recommend you check your warranty position before proceeding. We are happy to talk it through with you before any work begins.
Can you do anything about DPF, EGR or AdBlue (SCR) problems, and what is legal?
Yes. The Ram’s emissions hardware, including the DPF, EGR system and SCR/AdBlue (DEF) system, is a common source of faults, and we diagnose and repair these as part of our mechanical work. Emissions systems are legally required to remain functional on road-registered vehicles in Australia, so our focus is on correctly repairing and maintaining them rather than removing them.
What kind of power gains can I expect from a Ram tune?
Gains vary by engine, model year and supporting hardware, so we do not quote a fixed figure up front. Because every tune is developed and measured on our in-house dyno, you receive verified before-and-after results for your specific truck rather than a generic claim. We will discuss realistic, safe targets for your Ram during the booking.
Which Ram engines and years do you tune and service?
We work on the Ram 2500 and 3500 fitted with the 6.7L Cummins inline-six turbo-diesel, and the Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. These are USA-built trucks. For tuning, 2022-onwards Rams are calibrated on the factory ECU with no ECU swap required. If you are unsure which engine or year you have, get in touch and we will confirm.
How do I book, and how long does the work take?
You can book through either of our Queensland workshops, Oxley in Brisbane or Warana on the Sunshine Coast. Servicing is usually completed within a day, while custom dyno tuning can take longer because the calibration is developed and verified on the dyno. We will give you a clear timeframe when you book so you can plan around it.
